A cool site to check out is www.linux-hacker.net! There's always a new hack going on and this site is the originator of the Netpliance Iopener hack. Well, this site covers more hacks. I wanted to do the Iopener hack over a year ago bit Iopeners were all sold out. Now the latest cool hack is for the Comapq IA-1, aka MSN Companion. Currently my IA-1 sits on my desk and functions as an
alarm clock (plays MP3 files that are stored on my LinuxPPC server), Weather Bug Terminal, News Ticker, Web Browser, Internet Video Player, Digital Picture Frame, and Webphone! In this first attempt I am using win98lite to squeeze the OS and applications onto a 256MB flash. There's one major disadvantage to using Windows98 lite, it's not extremely flexible and you can't redistribute your image. So, I am working on a Linux image that will fit into a 128MB flash, feature X and 802.11b support... stay tuned!
